About Il Rifugio
Il Rifugio (The Refuge), is a respectfully restored 17th-century stone farmhouse on 64 rolling acres of private property. The villa is cradled in a terraced olive grove planted during the late renaissance period and surrounded by a sylvan landscape.
As owners, we assume the role of privileged stewards of the land. We have had the honor, passion, and pleasure to restore the olive grove from decades of neglect back to what it was in the ancient past and hopefully will continue to be for future generations to come.
As a vacation venue for rent by the owners, you will enjoy the ultimate in privacy, spectacular views, quiet, gardens, and woodlands. The area is rich in natural beauty, history, art, churches, and beautiful architecture. Il Rifugio is the perfect venue for families, friends, writers, artists, naturalists, small group retreats, or simply as a romantic getaway.
Il Rifugio is located above the village of Montanare in the community of Cortona in Tuscany, Italy. It is just ten minutes from the Etruscan hill town, Cortona, and within easy reach of trains, markets, wineries, fine restaurants, cafes, and more.
